Stop Wearing White Socks with a Black Suit

I like wearing suits; it’s pretty nice to put one on. It makes me feel good when I know I look good. However, there are many ways to ruin the look of a suit, and wearing white socks with a black suit is a sure way to do so.

Should You Wear White Socks with a Black Suit?

You should not wear white socks with a black suit because the contrast in colors is too great and will draw attention to the socks. A suit is meant to draw attention up to your face. The white socks will distract from attention on you and make people look at your socks.

A suit is a very specific look, especially considering how informal people are these days. You don’t see people wearing suits as much as they used to, and when you do see people wearing suits, they often wear them poorly. Wearing white socks with a black suit is definitely an example of wearing a suit poorly. This combination signals to the public that you do not know how to wear a suit and do not understand why people wear suits.

White Socks are too Informal for a Black Suit.

A black suit is the most formal of all suits. This is why people wear black suits for serious occasions such as weddings, funerals, and formal gatherings. When you realize that a suit is formal and a black suit is the most formal, you might start to understand why white socks do not go with a black suit. White socks are very informal. You wear white socks with jeans and sneakers. You might wear white socks when you go to the gym. Don’t wear white socks with a suit.

The point of a suit is to be formal. The socks should go with the suit. Wearing white socks reduces the formality of the suit. It turns a suit into a casual outfit. If you wanted a casual outfit, why did you bother wearing a suit?

If you are wearing a black suit, especially if it is a serious occasion, you should wear it with black shoes and black socks.

The Contrast of White Socks is Distracting

Sometimes, a little contrast can be a good idea, but not always. White socks on a black suit are too stark a contrast. If you wear a black suit with black shoes and put on white socks, the socks will stand out as the most noticeable part of your outfit. People’s eyes will be drawn to the white socks as they stand apart from the black suit and shoes. It will be distracting, and the only thing they will notice is your socks. If you are wearing something that stands out so much, nobody will notice you. They will notice your socks. The socks become the hero of the outfit and the focal point. Why would you want to do that? The focal point should be you.

The point of a suit is to highlight the man wearing the suit. Not his socks. Stop making the socks the most noticeable part of the suit. The most noticeable part of the suit is supposed to be the man wearing it. How can anyone see you when their eyes are being drawn to your socks. The contrast is too great.

White Socks With a Black Suit Looks Lazy

Looking good should be an effort. Wearing a suit is effort. When you throw on some white socks with your suit, it looks like you just couldn’t be bothered to get a pair of black socksIt looks like you just don’t care. Laziness and apathy are not qualities you want to project. It is better to be a little overdressed than underdressed. It is better to put in more effort than less effort.

Do you want people to look at you like you don’t care or can’t be bothered to put an outfit together? Stop this nonsense and go get a pair of black socks to wear with your black suit and shoes. If you are going to wear a suit, you can take the time to do it properly.

You Look Like You Don’t Want to Wear a Suit

When someone wears white socks with a black suit, it makes me think they don’t really want to wear a suit. I personally like wearing a suit. I am going out to dinner tonight at a nice restaurant with a woman I am dating. I am going to put on a suit for dinner. I look forward to it and will surely not wear white socks.

I like wearing suits. That is why I put thought and effort into coordinating the entire outfit. I do not just throw it together. It is planned out. I know what socks and shoes go with what suit because I thought it through when I first bought them.

The people I usually see wearing white socks with a black suit are children, teenagers, and men who have to wear a suit at work as a uniform. In most cases, these people may not really want to wear the suit, but someone is making them do it. Their lack of desire shows their little interest in putting the look together.

You have to Plan the Whole Outfit.

Every part of the outfit needs to be planned out—the suit, the shoes, the shirt, the socks—it all needs to go together. Put thought and interest into how you dress. In fact, put thought and interest into everything you do.

Now put on your black suit with some black socks and shoes so you can enjoy looking good.
