Good manners are an essential part of life, especially on a date. If a gentleman pays when having dinner with a lady, she should say thank you. The man should also respond politely. You want to always show respect and appreciation on a date. You may be curious how to respond to a woman saying thank you.
My Pleasure
When a woman says, “Thank you for dinner,” on a date, I always reply with, “My Pleasure.” I think my pleasure is the best response because it is a warm and friendly way of being polite and letting her know that you enjoy treating her to dinner.
You’re Very Welcome
You can say, “You’re Welcome,” but saying, “You’re Very Welcome” adds a little enthusiasm to the situation. You want to give off a good vibe. This response signals positive energy and respect. It is a simple, classic go-to response.
Happy To
When a woman says, “Thank you for …,” you can respond with a simple “Happy To.” This lets her know you enjoy providing and taking her out. It’s a nice, to-the-point response. Most importantly, it gives off positivity, which is a good signal. It is good to keep things upbeat and fun. Expressing happiness does that.
It’s My Honor
Some people say, “It’s an honor” or “my honor.” I think this falls somewhere between sweet and over the top. I personally don’t say this, but you can if you like. There is nothing really wrong with it. Just don’t apply it too thick. If you are in a more formal setting or place, it may feel more natural than if you say this in a casual setting. You should decide for yourself what type of vibe you want to give off. Remember, it’s good to try but not so good to try too hard.
Sure Thing or Anytime
You can also go with “sure thing” or “anytime.” I don’t like these so much for a date, and they are not as friendly and warm as I would hope. This response is better for a friend or casual business setting, not on a date.
Thank Her Back
Sometimes, you can respond to thank you with a thank you. Saying, “Thank you for the good company,” in response to your date’s gratitude, shows mutual appreciation and respect. This response is a great way to let her know you acknowledge her gratitude and offer it back to her. It is a wonderful response to give a lady a compliment or gratitude to let her know how you feel while being polite.
You can also use a combination of these. For example, you can say, “My pleasure, and thank you for being so easy to talk to.” There are lots of things you can say. Just make sure it’s warm and friendly and not too much you don’t want to come off excessive.
You may also be concerned what to do if she doesn’t say thank you. Manners are important. Everyone should be kind, polite, and grateful on a date. I have another post you can read if you are interested in seeing what you can do If She Doesn’t Say Thank You When You Pay on a Date.
